Basketball Recap: Fort Lupton Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Fort Lupton's tournament run continued when they took on Aspen on Saturday. The Bluedevils lost to the Skiers at home by a 58-39 margin.

Despite the loss, Fort Lupton still got an impressive performance from Javon Gonzales, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 19 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Gonzales has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 21 times he's played. Donte Lenox also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Leading Aspen to victory were Max De Bates and Jack Berro. De Bates shot 75% from the field on his way to 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Berro dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Berro continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Brett Eggleston was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to six assists and five rebounds.

Fort Lupton's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2. As for Aspen, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Fort Lupton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 78-61 loss against Eaton on the 16th. As for Aspen, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Peak to Peak at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026. The Skiers will need to watch out since the Pumas have now posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
