Softball Recap: Laguna Acoma Has No Trouble Against Navajo Pine

Laguna Acoma won the last time they faced Navajo Pine and things went their way on Thursday too. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Warriors. Considering the Hawks have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Ciandra Lucero made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Madelyn Brown was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Kaylee Lorenzo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Laguna Acoma pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Navajo Pine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laguna Acoma will host Northwest at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Navajo Pine, they will challenge Rehoboth Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lynx have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
