Recap: Mt. Zion Bulldogs vs. Lovett Lions

The Mt. Zion Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 77-67 to Lovett. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Monday (60), Mt. Zion still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Mt. Zion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaki Bell. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points. Bell is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Devante Burgest, who scored ten points.

Lovett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landyn Murphy, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cain, who scored 15 points.

Mt. Zion bumped their record down to 4-14 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Lovett, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Zion will take on Stockbridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovett will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against McDonough at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. One thing working in McDonough's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
