Basketball Recap: Central Jaguars vs. Paxton Bobcats
After flying high against Northview last Tuesday, Central came back down to earth. The Central Jaguars fell just short of the Paxton Bobcats by a score of 48-45 on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Autumn Boutwell, who posted ten points and four steals. Boutwell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Sophia Harold was another key player, putting up two points along with six assists, five boards, and four steals.
Even though they lost, Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paxton only racked up six assists.
Among those leading the charge was Kenzie Lassiter, who had 19 points and six rebounds. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Ward, who earned six points.
Central's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Paxton, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.
Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Paxton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 61-46 defeat against Jay on the 8th.
