Softball Game Preview: Devils Lake Firebirds vs. Horace

The Devils Lake Firebirds will venture away from home to square off against Horace on Thursday. Devils Lake is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Devils Lake came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Grand Forks Central by a score of 9-7 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Firebirds have suffered since May 6, 2025.

Meanwhile, Horace faced Fargo North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Horace fell 17-13 to Fargo North.

Devils Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Horace, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Devils Lake skirted past Horace 11-10 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Firebirds repeat their success, or do Horace have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
