North Star is a perfect 10-0 against Ferndale since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Yellow Jackets at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

On Thursday, North Star came up short against Rockwood and fell 7-2.

North Star saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Retassie, who went 3-for-4 with one double. Another was Nate Orris, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Ferndale didn't have quite enough to beat Berlin Brothersvalley on Thursday and fell 9-7. That's two games in a row now that the Yellow Jackets have lost by exactly two runs.

Danny Fesko was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Josh Mitchell was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

North Star's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Ferndale, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

North Star took their victory against Ferndale when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Yellow Jackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
