Baseball Recap: Sonora Comes Up Short

Sonora was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 12-7 to the Miles Bulldogs. If the Broncos were looking for revenge after losing 15-5 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Armani Coronado and Jesiah Martinez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Coronado went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Martinez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those stolen bases were Coronado's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Angel Diaz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Sonora's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Miles, their win bumped their record up to 5-3-1.

Sonora will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Colorado at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.57 runs per game on average), something the Broncos will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Miles, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against San Angelo Texas Leadership Charter Academy at 11:00 a.m. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.5 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
