Recap: New Summerfield Hornets vs. Overton Mustangs
This season hasn't been kind to the New Summerfield Hornets, who are still winless after their seventh match. They took a 50-34 bruising from Overton on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for New Summerfield in their matchups with Overton: they've now lost four in a row.
Kayla Nobles continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Overton, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Nobles is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashby Croswell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
New Summerfield bumped their record down to 0-7 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Overton, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
New Summerfield will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Athens Christian Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 18th. Overton will be home for the holidays to greet Ore City at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Ore City comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
