Basketball Recap: Estill County Comes Up Short

Estill County lost against Madison Central back in January of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Estill County Engineers lost 56-32 to the Madison Central Indians. The matchup marked the Engineers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Madison Central was led to victory by Cameryn Ridderikhoff and Brittany Campbell. Ridderikhoff went 10-for-16 on her way to 24 points and six rebounds, while Campbell dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Campbell a new career-high in boards. Nataya Strader was another key player, putting up 11 points and six steals.

Estill County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Madison Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-2.

The future could be bright for both Estill County and Madison Central: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Estill County will try to hand Berea their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Madison Central will look to extend Paul Laurence Dunbar's three-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
