The John Paul the Great Academy Guardians are taking a road trip to face off against the Acadiana Christian Defenders on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, John Paul the Great Academy got the win against Alexandria Homeschool Arts & Athletics by a conclusive 14-5.
Jonah Petitt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Petitt was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jacob Angelle was incredible, going a perfect5-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Micah Thomas, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, the Defenders gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Lions. The Defenders haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Like the Guardians, the Defenders also got a great game from a two-way player: Dawson Claudet. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Claudet was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Barras, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Ezra Barras was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
John Paul the Great Academy might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Acadiana Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can John Paul the Great Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
