Basketball Preview: Richland County Tigers vs. Centralia Orphans
Richland County is on a four-game streak of home wins, while the Orphans are on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Richland County Tigers will take on the Centralia Orphans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Richland County didn't have too much trouble with the Trojans on the road as they won 58-40.
Richland County found their leader in underclassman Kelysse Weiler, who scored 27 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weiler has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Danielle Reagan Brown, who scored eight points along with 19 rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Centralia ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 53-48 W over Althoff Catholic.
Richland County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-13 record this season. As for Centralia, their win bumped their record up to 17-9.
Richland County beat the Orphans 38-30 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Will Richland County repeat their success, or do the Orphans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
