Baseball Game Preview: Cape Henlopen Vikings vs. Delmar Wildcats

Cape Henlopen has won 12 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Delmar has won 12 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Vikings will host the Wildcats at 4:15 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Delmar's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Cape Henlopen hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Vikings' pitchers stepped up to hand Caesar Rodney a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Riders: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Delmar won against Woodbridge on Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Wildcats beat the Raiders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-4.

Cape Henlopen's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Delmar, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Cape Henlopen took their victory against Delmar in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
