Basketball Recap: Charlestown Comes Up Short

Charlestown lost against Brownstown Central back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Charlestown Pirates fell just short of the Brownstown Central Braves by a score of 63-60. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Braves are ranked 16th).

When it comes to explaining why Charlestown lost, don't look at Anthony Fresh. Despite the final result, he went 9 for 18 on his way to 28 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was Fresh's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Parker Odle, who posted 15 points and five boards.

Charlestown is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-5. As for Brownstown Central, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Charlestown has already played their next contest, a 65-41 win against Henryville on the 1st. As for Brownstown Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-52 victory against Corydon Central on the 1st.
