Softball Recap: Northwest Drops Highest Score of Season Against South Gallia

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest). They put the hurt on the South Gallia Rebels with a sharp 20-1 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Mohawks, who have now won 11 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Annika Carpenter was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mollyann Runyon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Karleigh South, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Northwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

Northwest is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Gallia, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Northwest is taking a road trip to square off against Minford at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mohawks are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for South Gallia, they will be playing at home against Green at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
