Volleyball Recap: Lordstown Comes Up Short

Lordstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Maplewood Rockets, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Devils of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

While Lordstown was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-10, 25-21.

Mia Giesey paced Lordstown's offense, picking up five kills. Giesey got some help from Kelsey Ripple and her five assists. Giesey was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Lordstown's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Maplewood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lordstown is set to take on their familiar foe Windham at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Maplewood will challenge rival Chalker at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
