Soccer Game Preview: Leander vs. Cedar Park

The Leander Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Cedar Park Timberwolves at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Leander is headed into the contest having not lost since the seventh and will look to keep things rolling. Their defense stepped up to hand Hays a 3-0 shutout on Tuesday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Hawks are ranked 605th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Cedar Park won against Hays on Saturday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. Cedar Park came out on top against Lehman by a score of 2-0. That's two games straight that the Timberwolves have won by exactly two goals.

Leander is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those six matches. As for Cedar Park, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2-3.
