Baseball Game Preview: Timpview Thunderbirds vs. Hillcrest Huskies

The Timpview Thunderbirds will square off against the Hillcrest Huskies at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Timpview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Timpview's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Judge Memorial Catholic with a sharp 10-0 win. While the Thunderbirds didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Timpview got a great performance from Beckham Woodward as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Timpview let Will Cannon and Elliot Myers run wild. Cannon scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Myers scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Zeke Kleven, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Timpview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Judge Memorial Catholic only posted a batting average of .333.

Meanwhile, Hillcrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Stansbury, falling 20-3.

Hillcrest saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex L?pez, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Timpview is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.2 hits in those games compared to only five in the others. Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Everything went Timpview's way against Hillcrest in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Timpview made off with a 15-2 victory. Does Timpview have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hillcrest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
