Recap: Quitman Panthers vs. Newton Tigers
The Newton Tigers typically have all the answers at home, but on Saturday the Quitman Panthers proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Tigers 58-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Quitman.
Quitman can attribute much of their success to KIARRA THOMPSON, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points THOMPSON has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of AUDRIANA HARRIS, who scored 12 points.
Quitman's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Newton, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-4.
Quitman will head out on the road to challenge Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Quitman is ranked 16th). As for Newton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake and Newton are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
