Basketball Game Preview: Lassiter Trojans vs. Riverwood Raiders

Two dominant guards in TJ Shinkle and Jr Leonard are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lassiter Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Riverwood Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lassiter is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Lassiter came up short against Sprayberry and fell 49-39.

Despite the loss, Lassiter had strong showings from Will Griffis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards, and Shinkle, who posted 14 points. That's the most rebounds Griffis has posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Riverwood didn't have too much trouble with River Ridge on Tuesday as they won 77-58. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the Knights are ranked 246th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lassiter's defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Riverwood, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.

Lassiter ended up a good deal behind Riverwood in their previous meeting on January 7th, losing 68-51. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Leonard, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and ten boards. Now that Lassiter knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
