Basketball Recap: Christ the King Cathedral Golden Lions vs. All Saints Episcopal School Patriots
Christ the King Cathedral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the All Saints Episcopal School Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-28 back in January.
All Saints Episcopal School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Mendez out in front who posted 20 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Mendez a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Lauren Brashear, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Christ the King Cathedral's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for All Saints Episcopal School, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-16 record this season.
