Softball Game Preview: Clarinda Cardinals vs. Kuemper Knights

The Clarinda Cardinals will face off against the Kuemper Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Clarinda's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Kuemper's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Saturday, Clarinda came up short against Dallas Center-Grimes and fell 6-1. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly five runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kuemper). Everything went their way against Greene County on Saturday as they made off with a 21-11 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

With the win, Kuemper broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-3. As for Clarinda, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Clarinda took their victory against Kuemper in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
