It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact New Trier can now relate to. They fell 4-1 to the Maine South Hawks on Saturday. The Trevians' defeat signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Nick Bailey was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, New Trier saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Meyers, who went 3-for-6 with one double.

New Trier's loss dropped their record down to 29-8-1. As for Maine South, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-16 record this season.

New Trier does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maine South, they will take on Libertyville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight.
