Baseball Recap: Walden Grove Has No Trouble Against Coconino

Walden Grove was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Coconino on Wednesday. Everything went the Walden Grove Red Wolves' way against the Coconino Panthers as the Walden Grove Red Wolves made off with an 8-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Wolves, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Nicolas Alegria tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jacob Silva, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Javy Lopez, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Walden Grove has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. Coconino is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6-1.

Looking ahead, Walden Grove will be taking part in a tournament against Canyon del Oro at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Coconino, they will venture away from home to take on Lee Williams at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
