Glades Day is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will host the Moore Haven Terriers at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Glades Day comes in on five and Moore Haven on three.
While Glades Day didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Atlantic Christian 18-5 on Tuesday. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 13 runs or more this season.
Kristabella Flournah made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Glades Day let Juliet Alegria and Reilly Baltazar run wild. Alegria scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Baltazar scored three runs and stole Six bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. With that strong performance, Baltazar is now averaging an impressive 1.8 stolen bases per game. Azariah Upshur was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Moore Haven hadn't done well against Frostproof recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Moore Haven skirted past Frostproof 9-7. That's two games straight that the Terriers have won by exactly two runs.
Preslynn Baker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Baker was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Sergent was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was JoEllen Erskin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one triple.
Moore Haven hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frostproof struck out 12 times.
Glades Day's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Moore Haven, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Glades Day's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. Glades Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 11.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Moore Haven, though, as they've been averaging only 0.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Glades Day continue to outrun the ball?
Glades Day suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Moore Haven when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Glades Day avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
