Basketball Game Preview: Centerville Tornadoes vs. Irene/Wakonda Eagles

Centerville is 2-8 against Irene/Wakonda since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Centerville Tornadoes are taking a road trip to take on the Irene/Wakonda Eagles at 7:45 p.m. Centerville knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Irene/Wakonda likes a good challenge.

Centerville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Scotland/Menno for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-37 win. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Tornadoes had established a 25 point advantage.

Meanwhile, Irene/Wakonda was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Burke 65-28. The contest marked the Eagles' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Centerville pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Irene/Wakonda, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Centerville against Irene/Wakonda when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 74-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centerville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
