Basketball Recap: Lamar Consolidated's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Lamar Consolidated hadn't done well against Terry recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lamar Consolidated Mustangs took down the Terry Rangers 51-34. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Lamar Consolidated's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ireoluwakanka Amusan led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Amusan a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Renniek James, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Lamar Consolidated's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-13. As for Terry, they dropped their record down to 0-25 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lamar Consolidated and Terry could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Lamar Consolidated will face off against Fort Bend Marshall at 7:00 p.m. on Friday down 901 places (913 vs. 12). Meanwhile, Terry (ranked 1503rd) will meet Fort Bend Kempner (ranked 431st) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
