Softball Recap: Bruce Takes a Loss

Bruce had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-8 to make it six. They came up short against the Cornell/Lake Holcombe Knights, falling 17-7. The Red Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 37-35.

As for Cornell/Lake Holcombe, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

For Cornell/Lake Holcombe's part, they let Lauryn Sime and Faith Heinzen run wild. Sime went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Heinzen got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Sime's first of the season. Liv Repka was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Bruce and Cornell/Lake Holcombe will both be playing Northwood/Solon Springs the next time they take the field. The Red Raiders will host the Evergreens at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Knights will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
