Softball Game Preview: Highland Regional Tartans vs. Overbrook Rams

The Highland Regional Tartans will challenge the Overbrook Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Highland Regional fell victim to Timber Creek Regional and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 9-0 to the Chargers. The Tartans have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Overbrook won against Haddon Heights two weeks ago with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Overbrook had just enough and edged out Gateway Regional 11-10. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Layla Perez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Ava Landolt was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Cecelia Mitchell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Highland Regional's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Overbrook, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Highland Regional took their victory against Overbrook in their previous matchup back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 11-5. Does Highland Regional have another victory up their sleeve, or will Overbrook turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
