Basketball Game Preview: Salina Central Mustangs vs. Andover Trojans

Salina Central is 0-10 against Andover since January of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Salina Central Mustangs will head out to take on the Andover Trojans at 7:30 p.m.

Salina Central lost 69-43 to Maize on Tuesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Andover strolled past Newton with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 65-48. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Railroaders are ranked 159th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Andover's win came from a few key players Salina Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joshua Kim, who went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. His evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Walker McClellan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Andover pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points per game. As for Salina Central, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Salina Central suffered a grim 68-47 defeat to Andover when the teams last played on Thursday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kim, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
