Recap: Northside Patriots vs. Northgate Vikings

The Northside Patriots pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Northgate 63-59. While losing is never fun, Northside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Northgate is ranked 120th).

Northside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being ZaKyra Mcgee, who scored 15 points. Morgan Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

DeAsia Stinson was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and six steals for Northgate. Stinson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Randria Wilcher, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Northside has fallen quite a ways from their 21-7 record last season and are now at 4-10. As for Northgate, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Northside won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Russell County at 6:00 p.m. on January 11th. As for Northgate, they will head out on the road to take on Newnan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newnan is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
