Madison-Ridgeland Academy is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Catholic. The Patriots pulled ahead with a 27-26 photo finish over the Bears. The win was familiar territory for the Patriots, who have now won six games in a row.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Michael McCrory and Colson O'Cain. McCrory gained 116 total yards and a touchdown while O'Cain rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Madison-Ridgeland Academy also relied on O'Cain, who's 50-yard boot wound up being the difference in the game. Case Thomas also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy's record now sits at 6-1. As for Catholic, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison-Ridgeland Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Parklane Academy at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Catholic, they will welcome Liberty Magnet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Bears' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
