Baseball Recap: Floyd Comes Up Short

Floyd extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 23 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They came up short against the Dora Coyotes, falling 20-14. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Coyotes this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-11 loss last Friday.

Floyd got a massive performance out of Logan Van Leuven, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Reiley Melton also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As for Dora, they moved to 5-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 28-10).

On Dora's side, Roddy Neal made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Neal has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 5-for-6 with six stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Ashton Davis was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Isaac Jasso was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Floyd will take on Melrose at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 11.5 runs per game this season. Dora does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
