Germantown won the last time they faced Callaway and things went their way on Friday too. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Germantown Mavericks made off with a 41-40 victory over the Callaway Chargers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mavericks.

Germantown's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ayla Benson, who went 7 of 13 on her way to 20 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Glasgow, who posted five points and 17 rebounds.

Loss or not, Callaway got some senior leadership from Megann Wallace and Jahanna Wilson. Wallace put up 15 points and three steals, while Wilson had 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Wallace has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Trinity Cook, who posted five points and eight boards.

Germantown has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Callaway, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-2.

Germantown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-44 win against Mendenhall on the 14th. As for Callaway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-55 victory against Hernando on the 16th.
