Basketball Recap: Surry HomeSchool Takes a Loss

Surry HomeSchool was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 70-57 to the South Charlotte Thunder. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Runnin' Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-41 back in December of 2024.

Mason Kern was nothing short of spectacular for South Charlotte: he went 9 for 13 en route to 22 points and four blocks. Those 22 points gave Kern a new career-high. Kristoffer Lang was another key player, going 5 of 9 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds.

Surry HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for South Charlotte, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.

Surry HomeSchool won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Appalachian Christian at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Appalachian Christian is coming into the match with three straight victories at home, so Surry HomeSchool will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for South Charlotte, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Northside Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Northside Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.4 points per game this season.
