With a playoff win on the line, Wesleyan rose to the challenge on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Grayson McCollum made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Matthew Wright was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Ryley Webb was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Wesleyan has been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-21 record this season.
