League recap: Porter Ridge falls to upstart Weddington

Weddington scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Porter Ridge, 7-0. At the time, the Pirates were ranked seventh in the state, while the Warriors were 43rd.

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Weddington, who took down seventh ranked Porter Ridge, 7-0.

Anson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Bunyon Tyson threw for 191 and one touchdown and Allen Campbell had 102 yards receiving. On the ground Jekev Robinson chipped in 101 yards. Dazhoun Hammonds helped Anson's passing attack out by catching two balls for 43 yards.

Parkwood's Grey Wyrick and Sam Mobley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A/3A Southern Carolina in both passing and receiving yards. Wyrick has thrown for 1071 yards this season, while Mobley, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 35 catches for 592 yards. Blair Hardin's team's Chris Duffy leads the league in rushing yards with 969.

Duffy of the the Pirates is only 31 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sun Valley takes on the Warriors. The Spartans are in third place, while Weddington is in first place.

There should be lots of points scored when Anson and Porter Ridge face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Luke Hyatt's team comes in having scored 173 this season, while the Pirates have scored 279. The Bearcats scored 21 points last week as they fell to Marvin Ridge.

Sun Valley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Rebels, 60-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the Scott Stein's team.
