Softball Recap: Morris Gets the Win

Morris let Plainfield South stack four runs on them in the seventh inning on Thursday but luckily Morris prevailed anyway. The Redskins had just enough and edged out the Cougars 5-4. That's two games straight that the Redskins have won by just one run.

Mylie Hughes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Halie Olson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Cami Pfeifer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Morris and bumps their season record up to 21-9. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Plainfield South, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Morris nor Plainfield South have any future games scheduled.
