Softball Recap: South Cameron's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Cameron made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Singer, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The South Cameron Tarpons were the clear victor by a 15-8 margin over the Singer Hornets on Thursday. Considering the Tarpons have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Hebert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on two hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Tanzie Medlock was excellent, going 1-for-5 with four RBI and one run. Carlee Doxey was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

The victory (which was South Cameron's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.3 runs. As for Singer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Cameron will square off against Starks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Singer, they will take on Washington-Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington-Marion has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 17.29 runs per game on average), something Singer will no doubt try to take advantage of.
