Kewanee is 0-8 against Rockridge since April of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Boilermakers will welcome the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Rockridge will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Kewanee extended their winning streak to five on Thursday. The Boilermakers walked away with a 13-10 victory over Mendota. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 9, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Kewanee got a massive performance out of Kieryn Abernathy, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Abernathy has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Dani Jo Currier, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Rockridge never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Monmouth-Roseville 14-0. Considering the Rockets have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Tatum Lowe, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Emilee Black, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Kewanee's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Rockridge, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kewanee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Rockridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
