Rylie Hunsaker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Evangeline Archuleta and Tristen Gonzalez did most of the damage at the plate: Archuleta went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Samantha Minghelli, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Excelsior Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Excelsior Charter now has a winning record of 8-7-1. As for Academy for Academic Excellence, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.
Excelsior Charter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Academy for Academic Excellence has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Excelsior Charter, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 hits. Given Academy for Academic Excellence's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
