Baseball Game Preview: Clearview Clippers vs. Firelands Falcons

Clearview is 0-9 against Firelands since May of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Clippers will head out on the road to take on the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Clearview is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They fell 5-1 to Oberlin.

Clearview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jahmir Sims, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Firelands also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Solon by a score of 16-12.

Daniel Kothe and Aidan Cummings stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kothe went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Cummings went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Cummings is becoming a predictor of Firelands' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Bower, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Firelands now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Clearview, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.

Clearview suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Firelands when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Clippers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
