Basketball Recap: Ouachita Parish Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Ouachita Parish posted their closest win since December 12, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 66-64 victory over the West Monroe Rebels. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Rebels are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ouachita Parish has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.5 points per game. As for West Monroe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Ouachita Parish Lions challenge the Neville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Monroe, they will challenge Minden at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Monroe is on a four-game streak of home wins, Minden a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
