Mt. Carmel had already won six in a row and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They came out on top against the Archbishop Chapelle Chipmunks by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Cubs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mt. Carmel walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The final score came out to 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 25-14.

Lila Franovich paced Mt. Carmel's offense, picking up 18 kills. Franovich got some help from Sarah Clement and her 57 assists. Finally, Allie Steele kept Mt. Carmel's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

When it comes to explaining why Archbishop Chapelle lost, don't look at Avah Gilchrist. Despite the final result, she had 21 digs.

Mt. Carmel's record now sits at 35-3. As for Archbishop Chapelle, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 21-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mt. Carmel is set to challenge their familiar foe St. Mary's Dominican at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Archbishop Chapelle will square off against rival Bonnabel at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
