Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Takes a Loss

Blue Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Florence Gophers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Yellow Jackets of the 90-68 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Among those leading the charge was Darren Swain, who went 5 of 8 en route to 16 points. Another player making a difference was Logan Stenson, who posted four points along with ten boards and five assists.

Blue Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Florence, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Blue Ridge will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Show Low at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Florence and Ash Fork/Seligman will round out the year against one another at at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Florence is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.5 points per game this season.
