Baseball Recap: Wisdom Pioneers vs. Hodgdon Hawks
Wisdom had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-4 to make it nine. They fell just short of the Hodgdon Hawks by a score of 7-5. The Pioneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 8-6.
Camden Pelletier put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Pelletier was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Alex Bebout was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were his first of the season. Joel Desjardins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
As for Hodgdon, they now have a winning record of 4-3. The win was familiar territory for they, who have now won three games in a row.
On Hodgdon's side, Daniel Henderson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Henderson has become a key player for the Hawks: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Botting, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
