Preview: Elizabeth Bulldogs vs. Pitkin Tigers
Elizabeth has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Pitkin Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Elizabeth suffered their biggest defeat since November 17, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Oak Hill 78-49. Elizabeth has not had much luck with Oak Hill recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Pitkin pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Hicks on the road by a decisive 76-60 margin. While losing is never fun, Pitkin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Hicks is ranked ninth).
Elizabeth bumped their record down to 10-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Pitkin, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-13 record this season.
Elizabeth was able to grind out a solid victory over Pitkin when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 47-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elizabeth since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
