Basketball Recap: Southern Wake Academy Takes a Loss

Southern Wake Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-59 heartbreaker at the hands of the Calvary Day School Cougars. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lions have suffered since March 8th.

Defeat or not, Southern Wake Academy got some senior leadership from Bryan Epperson and Ira Wilson. Epperson posted ten points along with eight boards and four blocks, while Wilson went 5 of 8 en route to 13 points along with eight boards and five assists. Epperson is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Seung Surmons, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Southern Wake Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.
