Basketball Recap: Andre Steele's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Trinity over Cumberland Valley

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Trinity can now relate to. They fell 89-76 to the Cumberland Valley Eagles on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (74), the Shamrocks still had to take the loss.

Several Shamrocks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andre Steele, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 22 points and five assists. Steele continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last six games he's played. Maddox Jarzynski also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Cumberland Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nolan Buzalka, who dropped a triple-double with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists. Buzalka has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more boards the last four times he's played. Creston Austin was another key player, dropping a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds.

Trinity's defeat dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Cumberland Valley, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-3.

Trinity does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cumberland Valley, they will face off against Ephrata at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
