Basketball Recap: Starr's Mill Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Starr's Mill duked it out withSt. Andrew on Saturday. The Starr's Mill Panthers fell 61-53 to the St. Andrew's Lions. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Lions are ranked 71st).

St. Andrew's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zayden Edwards led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten assists. Edwards' afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Mj Scott was another key player, going 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Starr's Mill and nudges their season record down to 5-6. As for St. Andrew's, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-2.

Starr's Mill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-45 defeat against Duluth on the 30th. As for St. Andrew's, they will head out to face off against Creekside Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Creekside Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season.
