Basketball Game Preview: Fremont Christian Warriors vs. California School for the Deaf Eagles

The Fremont Christian Warriors will square off against the California School for the Deaf Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Fremont Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Making Waves Academy on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Fremont Christian was outmatched by Making Waves Academy and fell 56-13. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Fremont Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sarata Kaba posted eight points.

Meanwhile, a win is a win, as they say, even a pretty close 24-18 win over New Mexico School for the Deaf. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Eagles' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 942nd in California, while the Roadrunners are ranked 135th in New Mexico).

California School for the Deaf is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.2 points per game. As for Fremont Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Fremont Christian couldn't quite finish off California School for the Deaf when the teams last played back in January of 2024 and fell 36-33. Can Fremont Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
